加拿大前面加a还是an？
加拿大（Canada）是专有名词，首字母用定冠词a 例如：I'm going to Canada next month. 我下个月去加拿大 a new country 一个新国家
然而，如果加拿大作为普通名词出现，它的首字母就要用不定冠词an了。 例如：An interesting country is Canada. 加拿大是一个有趣的国度。
注意在口语中，为了避免重复，可以使用缩写方式：to Canada 不加冠词的时候，要表达“到加拿大的旅行”这个概念时，通常要用介词on而不用in 例：We are planning our trip on (to) Canada. 我们正在计划前往加拿大的旅程。
另外，当加拿大指特定的一群人(the Canadians)时，可以用复数形式，这时首字母也要用复数冠词。 例：If you want to go to the USA， speak to me about it afterwards---or even tomorrow. We will be in touch with your embassy and make arrangements for the paperwork that might be required by both sides.
But what about Canadian citizens who wish to visit the States now， in December？ “They have nothing to worry about，” said Mr Poulsen. “It’s still possible. They just need an out-of-country permit and they can apply for this online from their home．” 《The Times》报道中使用了the Canadiens来代称加拿大人民，可见这里的canadians是复数概念。所以首字母用了复数冠词。
